It doesn't make the country better. It just creates a networking club that makes things worse. Jacob Rees Mogg and Alex Johnson are not clever. They just had connections. There are more talented people out there that work in coffee shops. They just didn't go to Eton. 04-07-2024, 06:49 AM in response to #58646 Baldman Wrote: Well I’m not going to pretend that having to pay a lot of money out over the next few years isn’t the main factor! What about if the country made schools better for everyone? Wouldn’t that be a good use of the VAT money? There are a lot more state schools than private schools. I don’t think middle income people send their kids to private schools. It’s almost entirely those on 6 figures isn’t it? 04-07-2024, 06:51 AM in response to #58665 04-07-2024, 07:17 AM in response to #58665 Uptheshots Wrote: What about if the country made schools better for everyone? If Kier Starmer had said… “we need 1.6bn quid extra to improve schools and we are going to get it by imposing a wealth tax or increasing income tax for high earners” then I would have had no quarrel with the policy. 04-07-2024, 07:27 AM in response to #58646 Baldman Wrote: It’s pure politics. A political party engaging in ‘pure politics’ at an election. Huge, if true. Anyhow, election day, hope everyone votes for who they want or not at all, whatever. “I see people are getting arsed about the politics. Nothing will change, nothing will happen, the rich will still be rich, the poor will still be poor. Be kind to other, look out for your family & friends, give what you can when you can, and most importantly, follow Barrow Soccer.” 04-07-2024, 07:33 AM in response to #58665 Uptheshots Wrote: What about if the country made schools better for everyone? Rather than being spent on improving schools, the concern is that money will be spend on educating the kids that are driven out of the private system. More kids in the state system will cost more. 04-07-2024, 07:36 AM in response to #58679 DarrenG WFC Wrote: It won't make schools better. The numbers estimated to be “driven” out of the private system was tiny wasn’t it? Something like 7% of parents would pull their kids out. |
