They could well have Prigozhined him. Would have loved to have seen the odds of this on Polymarket.

But the Syrian Air Force is limited, and the Russians only have a handful of planes left there. But it’s kind of irrelevant if there is no one to support - the Syrian army is evaporating if not actively changing sides. - Israel has killed loads of Hezbollah commanders, they are needed at home, and presumably leadership and communication is difficult/confused. Israel has also killed a load of the Iranian IRGC advisors, and the rest were hence not moving very openly. - doesn’t seem anyone is really sure how Islamist HTS will be. But how much control do they have, do they have enough people to - a lot of the rebellion is from associated groups and local militias who have just risen up. I’m most concerned about the Kurds. 08-12-2024, 10:28 AM in response to #83641 Greek Card Wrote: Wouldn't surprise me - if it is indeed true - if Putin was responsible Or just the Syrian military did a deal - you get to surrender nicely/carry on if you let Assad leave then kill him. Or a Syrian missile unit was displeased that he was doing a runner and leaving them to carry the can. Any news on the Alawites - is there area on the coast surrendering? 08-12-2024, 10:33 AM in response to #83654
Or the plane simply turned off its transponder with two flight plans to follow.

It was "turned off" when it hit the ground. Looks like an attempt at an emergency landing by the speed it was falling. Flightradar say they aren't aware of any landing strips in the area. https://bsky.app/profile/sanderregter.bs...rjoggqwc2v 08-12-2024, 10:59 AM in response to #83658 Barnet Ben Wrote: It was "turned off" when it hit the ground. That doesn't prove anything, after all the dambusters flew all the way to the Ruhr at 100 English feet, and if the russians are involved we know they're deviants. |
