I just had Chelmsford MP Vicky Ford at my door.
I played it nice at first as I know she'd been involved with our former owners on trying to set up a new ground for Chelmsford City and i wanted to hear what she said. And, what she said largely tied up to what I had heard previously (i.e. we want council land, to build affordable homes, 3G pitches etc but council won't speak to us until we start paying our rent on time).
But then I, politely, let rip and let her know why we need a change. She didn't disagree with any of it and tried to play the "Labour will win, but i'll represent Chelmsford angle" siting she'll do what she can to help get a new ground whilst blaming her Lib Dem opponent who is current deputy leader of Chelmsford City Council.
Obviously, she was telling what I wanted to hear. She won't get my vote as our owners she had a relationship have changed, she doesn't even live in Chelmsford and also with the Tory's out nationally she'll lose access and influence anyway to help us.
The main thing I noticed is she looked knackered. And, was quite downbeat. I think she seemed happy that I actually engaged with her on a specific issue initially rather than just ranting and being rude like I imagine a lot of people have been when they knocked on her door.
Interestingly, she said local polling showed we're in a genuine 3 way tie. She claimed Labour were slightly ahead, though she seemed to focus more on the Lib Dems. Either way, Chelmsford is always safe Tory so for it to be apparently marginal. Of course, this could just be a tactic to get more out voting. The more that vote, the more likely she is to hold her seat.
