My understanding of the issue is that she's possibly made a mistake, that doesn't mean it's illegal but merely an error, but her initial statement on it was not very well handled. It all feels a typically shit and grubby play from a right wing press who have little to play with. 12-04-2024, 05:43 PM in response to #40979 Gary Bauress Wrote: They played this card with beergate when they knew they hadn't done anything wrong - I imagine she'd feels the evidence is fairly solid in her favour once again to come out with this statement. Aye, they've watched the moves the left wing gutter press make and reciprocated them. Mwah.* * I honestly don't mind her. 12-04-2024, 05:48 PM in response to #40980 12-04-2024, 05:54 PM in response to #40979 Gary Bauress Wrote: They played this card with beergate when they knew they hadn't done anything wrong - I imagine she'd feels the evidence is fairly solid in her favour once again to come out with this statement. Can't remember who exactly (might be Tara) on here really doesn't like her - but she's grown on me. She's literally come from one of the most challenging backgrounds to be deputy leader of the opposition. If she's made a mistake, I assume she'll do the right thing and step down, but I imagine it's 99% Tory bollocks to try and distract from their shambles. I see on Twitter that she's getting abuse from the momentum nutters. Add in a leader of the opposition who came from a working class background and I struggle to empathise with why they're so cross with Labour. Much better to have a leader born into privilege, who became a career politician, not having a proper job for 40 years and somehow alienated the Labour Party to most of the north of England. 12-04-2024, 06:07 PM in response to #40984 Nonsense Potter Wrote: Can't remember who exactly (might be Tara) on here really doesn't like her - but she's grown on me. I don't much like her, but I certainly admire her and what she has achieved The John Prescott of her generation. 12-04-2024, 06:26 PM in response to #40988
I'd argue her achievement is more equivalent to David Blunkett in terms of the level of challenge she faced, whilst her approach is more Prescott. Assuming she makes it to government, I'll be really interested to see what she can achieve in the Levelling Up department.
