2 tier starmer's tones, his chancellor forecast this happening as she was aware of the underlying discontent, she knows that's worsened but her boss is branding us all far right thugs.

And if it's right those who were in the hotels are now going to benefit from rented housing/social housing things aren't going to go away any time soon.

"Us all"...no, he's just referring to the ones acting like far right thugs.

You may use the rhetoric of a far right at times but as yet you've not resorted to thuggery. So, he's not talking about you.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would you think the "thug" thing applies to you, unless you've been out smashing the place up? I thought the government wasn't listening on immigration.

How are they ignoring it? All through the election they said immigration is too high and they'll bring it down. And, that they'll get the aslylum back log cleared rather than wasting billions on the Rwanda scheme (which would have deported 200 people per year max). And, they'd go after the gangs running the small boats.

They've been in charge for a month. Give them a chance to actually get things done. The joke is that all these riots will actually slow them down as they have to focus on that instead.

There's a big disconnect on the right. Too often they focus on asylum seekers, both those arrived legally and illegally, which account for a small proportion of our annual immigration numbers (less than 10%).

In 2023, there were around 1m non EU immigrants to this country. Less than 100k of them where claiming aslyum.

The overwhelming majority of our immigration is those coming here to work or study (this also includes their family members). And yet the focus is always on asylum seekers.

Note also, as of June 2023 there were around 82K claims being processed for asylum for those arriving before October 2022. On 9 months only 6k of those claims were processed, with 63% successful and the rest sent back.

This is a failure of the previous government. It shouldn't take that long to process people. If more effort and resource had gone into that rather than the stupid Rwanda policy then we'd not have 82k people in limbo in hotels. And, if Boris had done a better job with his Brexit deal we'd not have record net immigration numbers which are over 3 times higher than they were pre Brexit.

All of the issues of today are due to them. So, it's so odd that the focus now seems to be on Starmers govenment as the problem. They're actually looking to address these issues rather than ignore them like the last lot.

STOP USING FACTS AS A REASONABLE ARGUMENT!

Anecdotally, in my 19 years of working clinically in the NHS I have only ever encountered one (1) asylum seeker in the thousands of patient contacts I have had, this despite working in a number of settings across the north of England from Southport to Pontefract. That guy was in his 50's. He had fled from Afghanistan after the Taliban took over his village, smacked him in the lower back with a rifle butt whilst he was on his knees at gunpoint. In the three months I was treating him he had enrolled at college and learned a better stand of English language than some of the "save are kids" section of society are capable of, with a view to getting a job if his asylum application was accepted. It's sad that if some had their way he would be sent away to anywhere but here.

Have you personally ever lost out on work to an immigrant?
Have you or anyone close to you ever had issues accessing housing directly due to immigrants?
Have you had any delays to NHS treatment due to immigrants?
Have you ever been treated on the NHS by an immigrant?
Have you or anyone close to you ever been the victim of a crime committed by an immigrant?

I'm only asking as I'm interested whether your views are directed by personal experience or a your perception of wider society.
