More Rejoin EU leaflets from who I assume is the candidate in his rosette, at the tube station.
They are the only ones trying.

Big bundle on the doormat today.
Token efforts from Labour, Reform and Heritage (who the hell are they?!)….. …..and THREE from the Orange Tories. Bollocks to the environment eh! Three more fraudulent bar charts - they really have no shame. But then I guess if you are campaigning on the council being bankrupt when your candidate voted for it it’s a bit late for shame. 27-06-2024, 09:45 PM in response to #57005 Meerkat Wrote: Big bundle on the doormat today. Ah, that old chestnut. The thought goes through my mind that 98% of Confforumers don't give a flying fuck about Woking council's finances. For the handful that do, it is probably important to understand the facts. All that was agreed cross-party was the principle of regenerating the town centre. But because no actual details were shared on the finances due to lack of any transparency or governance, the former Tory administration got away with bankrupting Woking. The Tory MP, Jonathan Lord, met with them regularly but not once did he challenge them. As soon as the Lib Dem administration got into power, they set up a proper transparent governance system. Realising the seriousness of the financial situation, they informed the public. 27-06-2024, 09:58 PM in response to #57018 DesCartes Wrote: Ah, that old chestnut. Desmond, have you always harboured an ambition to do politics or can we on this board take some credit for your centrist radicalisation? 27-06-2024, 11:00 PM in response to #57018 DesCartes Wrote: Ah, that old chestnut. So they voted for it, and despite being elected representatives they didn’t keep an eye on what was going on? Hardly a glowing reference for a wannabe MP. They also refused to take over as early as they could have, out of political self interest. Forster and Barker are part of the mess, and now taking advantage of it. 28-06-2024, 06:09 AM in response to #57020 Baldman Wrote: Desmond, have you always harboured an ambition to do politics or can we on this board take some credit for your centrist radicalisation? Probably the latter. The specific issue for me here is to ensure that Tory spin / lies are countered and the facts understood. For anyone actually interested in the details of what went wrong with Woking's finances, a comprehensive report by the auditors, Grant Thornton, is expected in the next couple of months. 28-06-2024, 07:53 AM in response to #57036 DesCartes Wrote: Probably the latter. Earlier I got a leaflet through the door which has "KEIR STARMER" printed on it in, let's say, 72 font size.
It then has picture of him Lord Kitchener-style with "NEEDS YOU" beneath it. Then in smaller writing, which I didn't bother reading until much later, it says "...to give him a blank cheque". This is a Conservative leaflet. I genuinely thought it was a Labour one! What a weird design. Nuts. 28-06-2024, 09:28 AM in response to #56984
The Lib Dem's are really going for it in Chelmsford. I came home after a week away to have 4 different leaflets from them and two mailed letters from local people telling their story and why the Lib Dems would be best for us. This is on top of 2 similar letters (each from a different person) and 3 other leaflets received before I went away.
In contrast i've had 1 postcard size one from Labour and then an A3 sized one each from Reform and the Tory's (though Vicky Ford did knock on my front door). If the Lib Dems don't win Chelmsford this time they never will. |
