And Braverman is one of the things that will be counting against the Tories in the upcoming election. Barely anyone knows what the commissioners are up to, and if we don't like it they don't really care. When do they ever face the public? Its too far away, and too dilute, to be real democracy. 18-06-2024, 05:43 PM (This post was last modified: 18-06-2024, 05:47 PM by NWS.) in response to #54623 Meerkat Wrote: And Braverman is one of the things that will be counting against the Tories in the upcoming election. Maybe. You still didn't answer the question though. Standard. If you want to know what comissioners are up to then read things like this https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/home/en You see we have the internet now and you can find things out. It's not difficult. You can't call something undemocratic because you don't want to engage with it. I don't know when they face the public. Although I don't recall one hiding in a fridge to avoid the public. Brussels is 199miles away from London. Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow are further so God knows what you are on about distance. More diluted. Yes. There are more people. That doesn't make it real democracy. Your version of democracy is one where thousands upon thousands of votes don't count. Again, in 2015 UKIP got 4m votes. How many parliamentary seats did they get. In 2019, over 50% of people voted for parties not promising brexit. They were not respected. Yeah, democracy. So pick a minister, any minister and tell me how many people voted for him. Edit: A comissioner popped into London recently https://www.lse.ac.uk/canada-blanch/even...a-cohesion Did you go? 18-06-2024, 06:36 PM in response to #54611
I am.watching a Party Political Broadcast by the Tories because I can't be arsed to change the channel.
Cheap and nasty, thought these things are supposed to be glossy and powerful, not just some weird bint making a boring speech? The Tories really have given up haven't they? 18-06-2024, 08:36 PM in response to #54692 UkrainianPhil Wrote: I am.watching a Party Political Broadcast by the Tories because I can't be arsed to change the channel. So has Meerkat judging by the standard of his postings. I would ask if he is the 2024 version of Rimmer but malfunctioning. However, I appreciate such words may attract another of our parish... 19-06-2024, 06:48 AM in response to #54673 NWS Wrote: Maybe. You still didn't answer the question though. Standard. Your just waffling irrelevantly. Westminster news is all over the media, Brussels daily business never was. Because its too remote, and voters influence is too dilute to be relevant. It is a deliberate strategy of the patricians - centralise the power as far away as possible from the proles, because they just refuse to vote 'right', and the patricians and their corporate sponsors know better. 19-06-2024, 07:03 AM in response to #54692 UkrainianPhil Wrote: I am.watching a Party Political Broadcast by the Tories because I can't be arsed to change the channel. If the brexit claims about comissioners were true you'd be thinking they'd be highlighting it all over the news. I wonder why they didn't/haven't. Maybe you could enlighten. You do realise that many people in this country find Westminster too removed from their daily lives don't you? yet here you are prattling on about this unrepresentative, centralist elite as though they are great. Back to the man point though, pick a minister, any one, and tell me how many people voted for them. I wonder why you won't. |
