Notable how Starmer couldn't name Harry Kane.

Sunak's closing statement makes absolutely no sense.

Starmer got much better as it went on, but dropped a major bollock earlier on which he will be kicking himself about. Quite pleased to see Sunak fucking up the last couple of questions, but a lot of people will only have watched the first bit. In summary: just chin him. 04-06-2024, 09:11 PM in response to #51195
I score it 115-114 to Starmer if you watched the whole thing.
The only danger for Starmer would be if people gave up listening after the £2k tax and pensioner tax bit. He was well behind at that point and visibly wobbling. 04-06-2024, 09:12 PM in response to #51195
Will any of this any blind bit of difference? Almost certainly not.
Sunak was better than expected and is a stronger candidate than one only retaining 70 seats according to the MRP... but people will rightly judge over the last Parliament. Starmer doesn't suit the format but got enough in and didn't shit his pants. Tbh he could take a narrow loss like this in every debate and that's an alright result such is the lead. It's like him losing 0-1 in the second leg after winning the first fixture 6-0. 04-06-2024, 09:12 PM in response to #51197 Leeds Sandgrounder Wrote: Sunak's closing statement makes absolutely no sense. He is a proper wally, but whoever is advising him managed to get some sort of a dumbed down, easy to digest tune out of him. Starmer a bit too wordy and fast but the 14 years attack is strong and seems competent. Sunak probably wins with those not very politically engaged (if any were watching), Starmer with those who are. 04-06-2024, 09:15 PM in response to #51195
Not great viewing absolute rubbish from Sunak about £2k tax rises wheres the evidence as both have promised not to raise Tax,NI or VAT other than on private schools.
Taxing pensions bit of a red herring currently £11,502 and will only get taxed when it hits £12,500. That might take 3 years if inflation stays below 3% although by not increasing tax free allowances for next few years is really a tax rise for everyone and more and more will be dragged into 40% tax bracket as well. 04-06-2024, 09:15 PM in response to #51203 Barnet Ben Wrote: He is a proper wally, but whoever is advising him managed to get some sort of a dumbed down, easy to digest tune out of him. There are millions more who aren't politically engaged. FWIW, my wife pointed out that the audience only really laughed at Sunak's claims, which she thought invalidated a lot he said. Madness that Starmer let him go on about £2K taxes for so long and even when given the chance, didn't fully make it clear it's bollocks. Actually surprised that Rishi didn't look his normal weak timid self. 04-06-2024, 09:15 PM in response to #51195
Sky snap poll done by You Gov has it as 51% to Sunak, 49% to Starmer.

Being a big lying bastard is Sunak's only real option tbh.
