It’s going to be a sad time over the next decade when people realise the shitness of our lives wasn’t caused by the tories.

You can say the same thing about the country as a whole, of course, for which most people understandably blame several years of inept Conservative government, but this will be Khan's third term as mayor. Should he not take any responsibility? Particularly when you factor in things like having to apologise to the Chief Rabbi, or for implying white families 'don't represent real Londoners', while claiming he represents "unity over division". In what way would you say it seems broken? The general feeling I see amongst Londoners is that things are generally ok and have been improving regarding the things the mayor has control of. He has been delivering positive changes that improve day to day life and seems to have a decent plan for his next term. He managed to win me back after not voting for him last time which is saying something considering my current opinion of the Labour party. 05-05-2024, 03:42 PM in response to #44705
But harder for Khan if Labour win and he can’t just blame the evilTories for his problems.
Did they ever work out whether he was lying about Crossrail? 05-05-2024, 04:24 PM in response to #44730 05-05-2024, 04:25 PM in response to #44736 05-05-2024, 04:27 PM in response to #44736 05-05-2024, 04:45 PM in response to #44713 Barnet Ben Wrote: In what way would you say it seems broken? When travelling from King's Cross or another London station on an away day, we'll now have to consider getting an earlier train from Maidenhead than the one suggested by Trainline or whatever as the Elizabeth Line and/ or one of the other lines will invariably be affected by delays. That rarely - if ever - used to be the case. On one of last season's trips, possibly Altrincham away, there were a load of protestors (all white folk, for the record), seemingly en route to a march, singing slogans like "From the river to the sea" on the tube, which made for an uneasy atmosphere. Plus, the streets around Euston were filthier than usual, with rubbish piling up. I'm sure Khan will point fingers at the Tories/ Brexit/ pandemic/ Israel, etc., but, as mentioned, this'll be his third term. I'd like to think that he'll need to stop blaming others at some point, especially as a Labour government will face the same financial problems as the current administration and so unlikely to be a silver bullet for him. |
