How many people on here are/have been members of a wmc/social club? I haven’t, much to my regret. My FIL is a member at a WMC in York but only goes once a year to renew his membership. 02-05-2024, 11:23 AM in response to #44031
Wasn't a member but used to go to the local one in East Barnet during my shelf stacking days. Made the Whetherspoons round the corner look as expensive as the Ritz..

Never went back after joining as was indicated indirectly that visitors should not have a suntan. As my driver was anglo-indian my principles kicked in and rather than go there we went to the pub a few doors along. 02-05-2024, 12:01 PM in response to #44056 Squarevanmanmark2 Wrote: Did join a WMC (now closed) close to my old bus garage. Huntington WMC is his club. 02-05-2024, 12:54 PM (This post was last modified: 02-05-2024, 12:56 PM by Kev-YCFC.) in response to #44031 Dave (Barra) Wrote: How many people on here are/have been members of a wmc/social club? I’ve been to see bands and to northern soul nights in the Huntington wmc, remote for busses and a long walk to Acomb, in fact we passed by earlier in the hearse as we were that way out. Been in the Crescent to see a band this year tho it’s no longer ciu affiliated (club & institute union) and the Clarence club to see another band a few weeks back which was a joint I last drank in underage. If I was a drinker I’d be a member of tha Acomb one, my old one was demolished a long time back. 02-05-2024, 05:18 PM in response to #44064 02-05-2024, 05:23 PM (This post was last modified: 02-05-2024, 05:24 PM by Bullsgold.) in response to #44090 Dave (Barra) Wrote: I was working just opposite last year and noticed it was now a ‘community hub’ rather than a workies/social club. That doesn't surprise me. It sounds just the sort of anti-establishment joint that Kev would frequent so he can sing along to the latest anti-facist popular beat combo. 02-05-2024, 05:50 PM in response to #44092 |
