Has anyone mentioned Aveley?
We've just nicked a couple of their players.

The most tinpot clubs to ever appear in CS, in no particular order, are:
a) Team Bath b) Fisher Athletic c) Redbridge d) Eastleigh 24-06-2024, 11:06 AM in response to #56196 24-06-2024, 11:46 AM in response to #56195 Squarevanmanmark2 Wrote: Know a couple of their fans who are very nice. However the club itself joined my shit list for not replying to a comunication I sent them. My list of clubs being this rude is now Concord, Aveley, Sutton Athletic and Cray Valley. Yes nothing against the fans (of which there were never any, we used to outnumber them lololol), but more in reference to the owner. 25-06-2024, 10:14 PM in response to #56196 26-06-2024, 12:30 AM in response to #56672
He probably turned up on a Tuesday night to find the pitch under about a foot of water with little chance of any football being played there for about a week.
It's slightly annoying. 26-06-2024, 12:58 AM in response to #55118 Shanghai Wrote: He got diagnosed with cancer rather than bored, tried to sell, no buyers, so folded. No Thurrock fan had any complaints, none of us 12 were wealthy enough to buy it. So fair enough. The quote mentions the South family. Really it was only Tommy, the rest appeared to prefer the idea of cashing in on the ground. I had a chat with one of the South family (son, I believe) at a game. It didn't start well because our fans were kicking the back of the stand. I asked him what the point of Purfleet FC was and predicted that when Tommy reached a certain age, they'd pack it in. He told me the family would keep the club going. They didn't. I still find it hard to believe the South family made much effort to keep Purfleet going. Step 3 clubs generally only disappear if they go bust (and there's normally an AFC version that try to claim the original club's history) or if they get asset striped (E Thurrock, and I think they're trying to reform) because there's always someone who wants to own a club at that level. If there had been a reasonable lease on offer, it's hard to believe they couldn't have found a buyer - even when Stortford were homeless and on the brink, there were people fighting each other to take them over - the Souths could even have taken two rents by letting Grays (asset-striped by the Billings family) share. But they didn't. For all Purfleet's tinpotedness, Team Bath take the award. We played there in their last game. Even the Conference told them to fuck off when they whined about our post-game pitch invasion. |
