It would be a nice change to just have a little attack.
Rice as a DM behind Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Kane, and Gordon/ Palmer would be fun in a Keegan-at-Newcastle-lose-4-3 kinda way. As I say, I'm not against it, after the mess Southgate has made of things up to this point and the dross we've served up in this tournament so far.
However, a competent manager would've picked a left-footer at left-back, blooded a Philips replacement at DM before the tournament, and would play Rice and Bellingham as the 6 and 8. Saka, Kane and Foden in front of them. Work on your signals for when to press as a team and what not. It's coming home, etc.
