Mr Nice 2.0 Wrote: I'd not change much for the next game. We've a new midfield partnership in Trent and Rice, as well as a new Centre back partnership in Guehi and Stones. They'll need a little time to find a balance, build a partnership etc. The CB's are still dusting off a few cobwebs after long injury layouts as well. Hopefully, they all gel and cut down in the errors.
One thing i'd like to see Southgate do is is Toney and Watkins more off the bench. Kane has to start. The guy is a brilliant goal scorer. But, there are games, like on Saturday, where it just doesn't suit him. If thats the case get Watkins or Toney to add a bit of mobilty and an out ball later in games. The trouble is, Southgate likes Kane for set pieces so is reluctant to take him off (and, he made a crucial block late on to be fare).
I'd bin Trent off immediately as nothing good is going to come of it. Terrible passing percentages. Lose possession all the time. Takes a place from an attacking player (who also wouldn't defend but may provide some forward momentum in possession. ie WITH THE BALL).
I agree about Toney, though. I reckon there's a secret Toney/Bowen combo there somewhere which could be surprisingly effective.
