Pugwash Wrote: To say he’s delivered no success in two years is ridiculous. I don’t think Sunak really believes in the Rwanda policy. I think he’s reluctantly stuck with it. But he does have a plan on the economy and it’s already working (inflation down sharply, interest rates falling, wages growing nicely, signs of growth etc). I think he’s a safer pair of hands (in tandem with Hunt) than Starmer and Reeves would be. Labour will bankrupt the country chasing an unrealistic target of net zero by 2030 and return to an open door immigration policy.
The government had little to do with getting inflation down, they don't set interest rates. And, the "growth" you talk about is minimal. The economy is stagnent and has been for a few years. Wages have gone up, yes, but they had too because of high inflation. There's various studies out there that show in the last few years all of us are worse off than we were before...all of this on Rishi's watch as both chancellor and PM.
As for immigration, you do realise immigration levels have gone up massively in the last few years and especially since Brexit? The open door policy has been under Boris and Rishi.
Oh, and as for the Rwanda policy Rishi is apparently stuck with....its over. Because he called an election its done. They can't get it throgh in time. His flag ship policy has been a huge huge failure. And, it wasn't working anyway as numbers released yesterday showed more people came over in small boats so far in 2024 than the same period in 2023.
