Unfortunately the discourse around the subject has become incredibly unpleasant and has been hijacked by arseholes to wind people up, like most things THESE DAYS.
Obviously, I've seen a lot of traumatised and troubled kids in my workplace. They have received lots of poor and mixed messaging about sexuality. They may often not have had access to adequate healthcare (either deliberately or through neglect), schooling has been erratic and they have been cut off from normal social activities. Quite easy to see why sexuality might be a confusion and how other 'conditions', such as autism etc can be missed.
