My wife says she never had any urges to play with dolls or anything considered a girls toy. Two brothers probably had an influence on that. An ex who only had sisters was very girly. And the 'only child', boy next door turned out gay and only ever wanted to play with barbies with us as a kid. Anecdotally from my own experience, your biological sex has little, if anything to do with you childhood interests.
All the best if and when they arrive. They are challenging but it’s pretty great on balance!
Is your point that society constructs expectations of girls and boys. That girls are expected to play dolls and boys war. But that neither of those behaviours is in any way innate?
I would be willing to go with that (although my anecdotal experience is different).
But doesn’t it cause an issue to the transgender movement? I.e. how can someone ‘feel like a girl?’ How can a woman be trapped in a man’s body when men and women have no innate difference of preference or action?
Surely the answer to a transgender person would be… “don’t be silly. There’s no difference.”
Genuine question btw
