Me too. Italia '90 was the first World Cup I can remember ... like it was yesterday. A disappointing opening draw with the Irish (Lineker shat himself), followed by a better display against the Dutch (presumably the tactical change - 3-5-2? - took place for that game), then a narrow win over Egypt - thanks to a Mark Wright header - to win the group. Bobby Robson, you are missed. 26-06-2024, 07:49 AM in response to #56697
Odd feelings, unbeaten group winners but it feels like we're coming home we've looked so dire.
Rashford & Grealish feel missed, (maybe not but) and if not them then something's missing, my lad says we should have an easier run into the semi so at least he's optimistic but it's not exciting. 26-06-2024, 08:28 AM (This post was last modified: 26-06-2024, 08:29 AM by Bullsgold.) in response to #56710 Kev-YCFC Wrote: Odd feelings, unbeaten group winners but it feels like we're coming home we've looked so dire. I'm not sure anything can be considered an easy run when we seem to be incapable of stringing a few meaningful passes together. The best thing is that we're not playing Austria as they'd batter us. Grealish would probably have been a good option. I don't think Rashford has been missed. At the end of the day, all the players there are good enough for us to do well. It's just they lack any direction and PASSSSSION*, it would appear. *I guess playing well usually helps with the passion. Dunno. Overall, just shit. 26-06-2024, 08:46 AM (This post was last modified: 26-06-2024, 08:47 AM by Shanghai.) in response to #56666
Why have a 26 man squad and only use the same 14 players? That game was ideal opportunity to play Palmer, Gordon, Watkins/Toney etc from the beginning and/or try something new. Opportunity missed, will have to stick with the same 14 again now, and the same tactics as too scared to try it in the KO games. What a pleb.

Surely he has to play Palmer?
