Don't the germans mine a lot of coal? or is that the Poles?

The obvious solution for me is to invert the central midfield, play one holding midfielder (ie. Rice) and 2 no. 10s (Foden & Bellingham). Gordon to come in for TAA and go on the left wing. We'd have 2 pacy direct running wingers then and Foden can do his thing inside still. 20-06-2024, 10:36 PM in response to #55376
Whatever the system, swapping Palmer or Gordon for Trent is a no brainer.
Especially now we've basically qualified. We're practically through and we're playing Slovenia (NO DISRESPECT). Let's at least have a go, eh! 21-06-2024, 04:53 AM (This post was last modified: 21-06-2024, 04:53 AM by NWS.) in response to #55444 Meerkat Wrote: But it’s dangerous to players and the bounce and roll aren’t trustworthy. So we agree the GRASS pitch was dangerous to players and the bounce and roll was not trustworthy. Why worry about 4g pitches and the environment. What did Kalvin Phillips bring to the team that the other superstars can't?

One more thing from last night… I get the feeling that teams have figured out that Pickford can be beaten from long range with hard low shots. Denmark took a load of shots like that from way outside the box.
If that is a weakness it has been very costly… https://metro.co.uk/2022/12/13/jordan-pi...30794/amp/ 21-06-2024, 08:21 AM in response to #55482 Baldman Wrote: One more thing from last night… I get the feeling that teams have figured out that Pickford can be beaten from long range with hard low shots. The one last night went in off the post. That's the most cornerish of bottom corners. Someone should have closed him down, I suppose. Although I wouldn't even worry at all about conceding that goal. The much bigger problem is that we don't appear to be capable of scoring more than one fluky goal per game. 21-06-2024, 08:50 AM in response to #55452 Marked Ox Wrote: The obvious solution for me is to invert the central midfield, play one holding midfielder (ie. Where we now find ourselves, yes, I think that is the obvious solution. However, it doesn't get the best out of Rice. I think he's better as a box-to-box midfielder with someone - Partey at Arsenal - holding. And, without a proper DM, I think that side would get picked off by the better teams. Still, I'd rather we got beat having a go, rather than turtling up against the likes of Serbia and Denmark (no offence). I think Southgate is correct when he points out that we're missing Kalvin Phillips. However, it's his job to find and bed-in a replacement. Instead, he's experimented with TAA in midfield during a major international tournament. *rolls eyes* (Don't get me started on playing Trippier at left-back.) |
