I think what people seem to forget about clubs with financial irregularities, is that the rest of us - 23 other clubs - have been playing within the rules. We've mostly been paying our tax bills, paying our players on time, not defaulting on our creditors. Whilst Southend have been cheating. And they haven't just been cheating HMRC, their players and their creditors they've been cheating 23 other clubs who play in the same division. They can moan about having a bad owner and the sale not having gone through; I think most clubs in this division know what that feels like. But we've also seen many other clubs get relegated or liquidated for far less. I don't want Southend to go bust but relegation by a division or two, until they get their house in order, could be a good thing. 19-05-2024, 01:10 PM in response to #47258 Auntie Merge Wrote: I think what people seem to forget about clubs with financial irregularities, is that the rest of us - 23 other clubs - have been playing within the rules. Woking lost over a million pounds to finish 17th, is that playing within the rules? I suppose so for as long as there's a group fools prepared to write the cheques, but the finances amongst pretty much all NL clubs are so bonkers very few can take the highground. 19-05-2024, 02:33 PM in response to #47278
That’s a crazy number.
But if tax and NI are being paid, and no one is being ripped off it’s not really an issue. But when HMRC is being used as an overdraft facility or players have renegotiate their contracts to get the back pay they’re owed it’s clearly cheating. 21-05-2024, 12:52 PM in response to #47256
I see Morcoomb are making a late bid to join the North West Counties League next season:- https://www.theguardian.com/football/art...group-sell

Only fair and just we take their league place as NL runners up. 21-05-2024, 06:32 PM in response to #47256
It sounds like Southend are taking her proverbial but it's not really the fans fault if owners act irresponsibly. Plenty of clubs have a history of that though. I've certainly got more respect for someone from Southend who supports them rather than Chelsea.
