There's an 'interesting' poll showing more Labour voters have a negative opinion of people displaying the England flag - despite that view being massively out of touch with the population as a whole.
I am trying to pinpoint when this phenomenon occured becaue from Labour's inception and all through the 60s, 70s, 80s... they were as passionately patriotic (if not more so) than other parties.
Maybe the reversal in attitude was a response to Thatcher 'weaponising' Britishness, maybe it's a more modern result of New Left social theory decrying everything western nation do/have done as heinous and the cause of everything bad.
Maybe it's Emily Thornberry filling in all the surveys.
