Until today England's oldest living Test cricketer.
RIP
I was lucky enough to meet him on a number of occasions. Mostly when playing away at his club, Old Whitgiftians, where he'd always be knocking round on a match day serving behind the bar or looking after the valuables.
Also one afternoon as a young man in the Oval pavilion chatting to him and John Major about cricket, with the former pretty pissed after lunch but full of bonhomie
A real gentleman and a great servant of the game at all levels.
