Like double sized golf umbrellas To be fair, when it's raining it's good to be holding a solid thing which covers a large surface area. I say this as a man who recently walked a mile with an umbrella made of chopsticks which had the coverage of a butternut squash in a fairly lofty gale 06-04-2024, 05:57 PM (This post was last modified: 06-04-2024, 05:58 PM by Baldman.) in response to #40018 Bullsgold Wrote: To be fair, when it's raining it's good to be holding a solid thing which covers a large surface area. Is a butternut squash a recent invention? I’m not sure it predates Jamie Oliver. Is it different to a pumpkin? 06-04-2024, 06:19 PM (This post was last modified: 06-04-2024, 06:21 PM by Bullsgold.) in response to #40019 Baldman Wrote: Is a butternut squash a recent invention? Having said that, It could've been a deranged carrot. This modern top level football stuff is impossible. All the best teams seem to batter other teams for however long it takes and then play anti-football with short bursts of great football. It's very close to being dead, I reckon. It's like asking AI what's the best way to restore the planet to an equilibrium. 07-04-2024, 11:22 AM in response to #40006
I still don't really understand about the penalty. I thought if the defender went to tackle and made contact with the ball before making contact with the attacker ( as long as said contact isn't reckless or out of control ) then it wasn't a foul.
Now they are saying "he didn't make enough contact". What is the ruling on what is "enough contact". Isn't this just introducing yet another subjective aspect to decision making ? 07-04-2024, 11:34 AM in response to #40103 Yeoman Wrote: I still don't really understand about the penalty. But apparently a rugby tackle around the chest isn't a penalty. It will change again next week anyway and the interpretation will be different again. 07-04-2024, 01:07 PM in response to #40103
The games gone

Due to VAR, Rangers got a laughably soft penalty after the Ref originally booked Fabio Silva for a dive. This was then evened out by a laughably soft free kick given through VAR, even though the same Ref had allowed many such challenges in the game, to Celtic which meant a Rangers goal was disallowed. As an aside, the quality of play was very poor. 07-04-2024, 03:05 PM in response to #40121 Marked Ox Wrote: Yep. Had the Rangers-Celtic game on in the background. Bloody exciting finish though. Particularly as I had bet on the draw 07-04-2024, 03:11 PM in response to #40132
Good game. Celtic looked absolutely shattered after an hour for some reason though.
